What is payroll accrual?
At month‑end, record wages/taxes earned but unpaid so expenses match the period’s work.
If a pay period straddles month‑end, accrue wages, overtime, employer taxes, and benefits earned to date. Reverse the accrual when payroll runs. Reconcile accruals to payroll registers monthly.
